Our Tohu

The Meaning and Explanation of our Tohu - Art Work

The Art Work in our hall is a representation of all of us and serves as a symbol of achievement for the past, present and future students of Te Awamutu Intermediate School.

'Tama Tu, Tama Ora, Tama Moe ...'

Awaken o children to the light. Sleep no more in slumber.

Our tohu reflects this whakatauki (proverb)

The Sun and The Sky Element

The sun represents the focal point to establish clear direction. The rays create a feeling of warmth, protection and purpose.

The sky represents space, the infinite, the limitless potential we can all aspire to.

Dancing Children

The carved art pieces represent the dancing joy and innocence of children – reflecting the true nature of our spirit. A reminder to us all that life is full of wonder, magic and miracles.
