At Te Awamutu Intermediate, we provide a supportive environment where every student can truly SHINE. Our counsellor is dedicated to helping students reach their full potential—socially, academically and emotionally.
The school counselling service operates with the utmost respect for confidentiality, which is essential in creating a safe and supportive space for students and whānau.
The counsellor is here to help students:
Feel Good: Support emotional and social wellbeing so students can come to school happy.
Be Successful: Encourage the Effort and Independence students need to reach your potential.
Solve Problems: Give students the tools to handle life’s "tough stuff" with confidence.
Connect with Others: Support students in building Honest and Respectful relationships with peers and teachers.
Confidentiality:
Honesty and Respect are at the heart of our counselling service. We provide a safe, private place for students to talk through their thoughts and feelings.
What students share with a counsellor is confidential. However, student safety is our top priority. If there is a serious risk to students safety or the safety of others, we have a responsibility to help. In these rare cases, we will work with students to ensure they are safe, only sharing what is necessary.
